This hand-knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug features a latch-hooked hexagonal center medallion surrounded by an all-over floral pattern on an abrashed field. Palmettes and vines radiate outward from the center medallion creating a network of stylized floral designs. Outlined mihrab motifs ornament either side of the medallion, while additional eight-pointed stars, which represent spirituality and happiness, are also included. A larger-scale floral pattern adorns the corner spandrels, complementing the central design, while a large geometric cup and leaf main border and running water inner border provide contrast. The mix of elements combined with soft earthy colors gives this Turkish Oushak rug a great deal of rustic charm. Rendered in variegated shades of terra cotta, faded soft red, brick red, salmon, coral, gray, greige, ecru, almond, beige, olive, pistachio, sienna, burnt umber, and coffee.
