The highly decorative floral design and sophisticated color palette woven into this piece work togeter creating a refined and regal appeal. Taking center stage is a round sixteen point Mashhad medallion anchored with trefoil palmette pendants at either end. An allover pattern composed of blooming palmettes, stylized florals, leafy tendrils and rosettes entwined with delicate vines cover the abrashed burgundy colored field. The navy blue corner spandrels echo the botanical pattern within the field. It is framed with a Herati palmette border enclosed with double floral meandering guard borders. Reflecting elements of Persian culture and stylish levels of complexity, this timeless Mashhad rug is pure elegance.
