20917 Vintage Moroccan Beni M'Guild Rug with Modern Bohemian Style 06'01 x 13'01. This hand-knotted wool vintage Moroccan Beni M'Guild rug is split into five sections. The middle of the composition displays three horizontal rows or repeating concentric squares flanked on either side with a horizontal lozenge trellis patterned inside with squares divided into four parts and dotted outside the trellis with cubes, squares, and rectangles. Both ends are patterned with a cross lattice. It is framed with a square chain link border representing the male's presence. In Moroccan rugs, male motifs often appear on the outer portions of the composition, framing and enclosing the female motifs. This presentation can be seen as symbolizing fertility, as well as protection and the sanctuary of the family. Though deceptively simple, this beautiful vintage Moroccan rug is clearly laced with meaning and cultural significance.
