Make a Statement with Moroccan Rugs

The streets of Morocco are lined with rugs: hung over walls, being wheeled down the road and stacked in stalls in the medina. Our owner travels the world to find the highest quality, most unique rugs on the globe to stock in our showroom. Right now Moroccan rugs are very popular and one of our best sellers.

You can go through the haggling and risk paying too much in Marrakech or you can leave it to us. Most of the rugs we import from Morocco are made by the Berber tribes in the country. Each one has a distinctive style and every one of them is handmade making them all one-of-a-kind.

With tones ranging from vibrant to neutral, these fun and funky rugs work just as well in contemporary spaces as they do in cozy spaces. We just got a new shipment in from a recent trip to Morocco and have beautiful new additions to our collection. Come in and see our showroom.

It is important to buy from a trusted establishment like Esmaili Rugs, because , just because a rug looks antique, doesn’t mean it is. “Aging” rugs to be sold as antiques is big business so we’re in the business of making sure the rugs are the quality they say it is. Rugs may be faded and frayed, but remember, they are typically used for practical purposes so an antique rug will likely never be in perfect condition.

Did you know authentic Moroccan rugs are made from wool? If you have a lighter handy, you can ensure you are getting a real wool rug verse a synthetic rug by holding that lighter to one of the loose edges. Synthetic fibers will ignite, while the real wool will not light or will put itself out.

We’ve spent decades making relationships with the best rug providers around the world. Our owner, Ali Esmaili, has spent his life studying and working with artisans, collectors, designers and purveyors of distinctive and historical rugs. He has developed and maintained relationships for over thirty years with manufacturers, interior designers and trade professionals. Starting with a vision for an antique rug niche in the Oriental rug market, Esmaili Rugs and Antiques, Inc. has grown from a one-man operation to a multi-million dollar business serving trade professionals and customers across the globe.
