Embracing the Khotan custom of combining influences from Chinese, Tibetan, Persian, Turkish and Turkmen designs, this new transitional rug is a unique and interesting piece with a gorgeous, soft and neutral color palette. The center motif is comprised of a round floral medallion decorated with Anatolian ram's Horn motifs, set within a square outer medallion outlined with winding fretwork reminiscent of Chinese weavings. Two vases with blooming rectilinear pomegranate trees, a hallmark of many Khotan carpets, elegantly decorate both ends of the field. The main border features a stylized cloud band motif, while delicate winding key secondary borders echo the fretwork designs of the field.
