This hand knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug features an oversized stepped hexagonal medallion with blooming palmette pendants floating in the center of an abrashed brick red field. Gorgeous floral vinery densely fill the medallion, while coordinating rectilinear vines adorn the stepped corner spandrels. Two panels decorated with half-medallion Meander designs bookend the field, echoing the rounded botanical forms that appear throughout the composition. The main border features alternating abstract palmettes and angular floral blooms, while delicate carnation meadner and running water secondary borders add balance and a touch of grace to the overall design.
