52453 Antique Persian Shiraz Rug with American Craftsman Style 07’02 x 10’06. This hand-knotted wool antique Persian Shiraz rug with American Craftsman Style features a quilt-like allover pattern of two columns of concentric diamonds, each set in a muted blue square. Red borders finish either short end of the carpet, adding to the hand-made feel. Each diamond features a multitude of symbolic motifs meanwhile the squares are divided into four corner compartments. Latch-hook lozenges and various motifs are used throughout the field and borders including Ram's Horn fertility, heroism, power and masculinity. Other motifs include the Kaikalak, Eye and Burdock - Pitrak protecting against evil, Ying-Yang symbolizing the harmony between man and woman, Fetter - Bukagi or horse hoof symbolizing family unity. The main border is a combination of the Cross - Hac flanked by an inner and outer guard band made up of the Snake - Yilan and three-prong bird motif. Imbued with Anatolian symbolism yet at home in American interiors, this antique Persian rRug is a versatile carpet capable of a variety of successful design applications.
