This hand-knotted wool vintage Beni Ourain Moroccan rug features a lozenge trellis pattern on a neutral background. Bold, thick lines composed of squares form a diamond lattice on a field of creamy-beige. The piece is framed with a lozenge and V-shape border tying the rug together to completion. The style of the ancient Berber tribes, including the Beni Ourain, influenced artists and designers of the Mid-20th Century. Lacking a written language, the Berber Tribe and Beni Ourain weavers created pieces rich in symbolism and history to document their everyday existence. This striking example of a Beni Ourain will add a touch of nomadic village folk art or Mid-Century Modern style to nearly any space. Rendered in variegated shades of cream, vanilla, beige and black.
