This hand-knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug features a triple centre medallion anchored with pendants floating on a sandy-beige backdrop and ornamented with a variety of ancient Anatolian symbols. The spandrels contain amulets, cross, burdock and comb motifs for protection to ward off the evil eye. The sandikili chest motif, family signs, tree of life motifs and bird motifs symbolize good luck, marriage, happiness and love. The spandrels and center medallion are enclosed with a thin band with spiked edges and interrupted with a congregation of tiny diamonds in each corner. The large-scale sandy-beige cut-out field has a saw-tooth zigzag edge defining the spandrels in each corner.
