Description:-

20248 Vintage Berber
Moroccan Rug 05'11 X 07'07 From Esmaili Rugs Collection.
Variegated shades
of red provide a beautiful backdrop for the intricately woven diamonds that
ornament this hand-knotted wool vintage Berber Moroccan rug. More than the
asymmetrical beauty found in the geometric pattern, this Berber Moroccan rug
hosts a riot of reproductive symbols that carry great meaning in Ancient Berber
culture. The diamond shape that ornaments the entirety of the piece is a symbol
known to represent the prediction of a pregnancy. The chevron and X-shape,
featured throughout the rug, symbolizes the open arms and legs of a woman ready
to conceive. The Solomon Star, a fertility symbol, indicates a birth in the
family. A coffee brown colored border ties the Moroccan rug together as fringe
hangs from one vertical side. Hand-knotted wool. Berber Tribes of Morocco. Made
in Morocco. Measures: 05'11 X 07'07.
