Description:-
This vintage Persian Kilim was hand-woven with wool in Turkey featuring multicolored stripes. It was created by connecting three panels together. This Turkish flat-weave Kilim has a tribal flare, yet it still reflects an understated appearance that is ideal for modern and contemporary interiors. The series of colorful bands are repeated at random intervals add intrigue and a delightfully modern aesthetic. Measures: 5'11"x 14'. Kilims are flat woven carpets or rugs produced from around the world, mostly in Turkey (Anatolia and Thrace), North Africa, Scandinavia, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Central Asia and China. Kilims can be purely decorative or can function as prayer rugs. They are handmade by tightly interweaving the warp and weft strands of the weave to produce a flat surface with no pile. The weft strands, which carry the visible design and color, are almost always wool, while the hidden warp strands can be either wool or cotton. The warp strands are only seen at the ends, where they appear as the fringe and usually tied in bunches, to ensure unraveling of the weave. Making a Kilim rug is highly regarded Folk Art and there is a great deal of symbolism in the designs. Kilim symbols may vary according to their changes of color, placement in the pattern or slight modification of shape. With multiple patterns, motifs, colors and sizes available, flat-weave Kilim rugs can fit practically any style of design, be it classical, traditional, contemporary, Bohemian chic, modern or rustic. Kilim rugs are used as floor coverings, wall-hangings, bedspreads or as pillow covers, to name just a few of their uses. Today, Kilims are not only found in the home, but also in offices where they take the edge off the usual formality.
