Description:-
20100 Vintage Berber
Moroccan Rug with Postmodern Memphis Design and Tribal Boho Style 06’00 x 12’01.
This hand-knotted wool vintage Berber Moroccan rug features two large scale
Burdock protection latch-hook amulets enclosed by four thin stripes. Two
large-scale lozenge eye motifs filled with a collection of smaller diamonds are
found on either side of the Burdock motifs. Eight-point stars, Hamsa motifs,
Camel Tracks, partridge eyes, and a variety of secondary protection motifs are
symmetrically placed throughout the Moroccan rug. Hamsa, camel track, and
eight-point stars meant to capture evil spirits. The camel track Hamsa symbol
is known as a feminine motif and represents a flower. It is an eight-point
lobed lozenge shape (open to the idea of birth). The Moroccan rug is enclosed
with a zigzag line snake border. In Moroccan rugs, male motifs often appear on
the outer portions of the composition, framing and enclosing the female motifs.
This presentation can be seen as symbolizing fertility, as well as protection
and the sanctuary of the family. Though deceptively simple, this composition
and its motifs hold a significant place in Moroccan culture. Perfect for adding
organic tactile sensations to a wide hallway, corridor, living room, front
room, bedroom, study, studio, home office, sitting area, family room, game
room, play room, children's area, or nursery. Well-suited for a wide range of
interior styles: Boho Chic, Bohemian, Postmodern, Memphis, Nomadic, Ethnic,
Primitive, African, Tribal, Cubism, Bauhaus, Hygge, Organic Modern, Modern,
Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, Art Moderne, Abstract Expressionist, or
Feminine Industrial. Rendered in variegated shades of amethyst, plum, lavender,
raisin, grape, mauve, rose, pink, hot pink, eggplant, ocher, orange, tangerine,
robin's egg, mint, gold, teal, terra cotta, rust, beige, sand, charcoal, and
dark gray. Abrash. Hand-knotted wool. Made in Morocco. Berber Tribes of
Morocco. Measures: 06'00” x 12'01".
