20610 Vintage Berber Moroccan Rug with Tribal Style 5'09 x 9'10 From Esmaili Rugs Collection. Subdued hues of fiery red and glowing orange awaken the senses while evoking images of a warm Moroccan sunrise. Intricate geometric patterns house themselves within the larger arrangement of repeating diamonds in this Vintage Berber Moroccan rug. The diamond was successively used in Ancient Berber rug-making as a symbol of womanhood or more specifically, a symbol to predict a pregnancy. This motif of femininity and reproduction is one of the most prevalently used motifs woven into Ancient Berber rugs. The border surrounding the focal point of the piece also features a pattern of diamonds that have an "X" shape in the middle of the diamond. The "X" design is known to symbolize the open arms and legs of a woman who is ready to conceive. The rug is tied together by the delicate fringe which embellishes the vertical sides of rug, which contrasts beautifully against the warm colors of the woven piece. Hand-knotted. Made in Morocco.
