Spanish Revival Style Vintage Persian Shiraz Rug From Esmaili Rugs
Collection. This hand-knotted wool vintage antique-washed Persian Shiraz
rug features an all-over mother-and-daughter boteh pattern spread across an
abrashed terra cotta field. The widely used boteh motif is variously thought to
represent a leaf, bush, pinecone, sprout or flame. The mother-and-daughter
boteh design consists of small botehs inside of larger botehs. Almond blossom
and barber’s pole guard borders flank a striking and unique rooster border.
Roosters are seen to grant protection from evil and are sometimes described as
representing the souls of the dead. The bold patterns and soft warm colors of
this vintage Shiraz rug come together to create a charming, attractive and
versatile piece. Rendered in variegated shades of rust, faded brick red, rose,
dark pink, terra cotta, coffee, chestnut, camel, tan, sand, beige, taupe, and
greige with an aqua and hot pink accent color. Perfect for living room,
