Moroccan Rug with Postmodern Cubism Bauhaus Mondrian Style 05’01 x 08’05.
Displaying a Postmodern Cubism and Mondrian Bauhaus style, this hand-knotted
wool vintage Berber Moroccan rug synthesizes beautifully with modern
architecture and MCM furniture. It features an asymmetrical color block pattern
composed of squares, rectangles, lines, rods, and organic shapes. Though
deceptively simple, this ambiguous design is steeped in Moroccan tradition. The
rectangles and rods featured are male motifs. Squares represent an enclosed
space symbolizing a safe abode of permanence and security. The soft beige and
blush hues cools down the intensity of the colors to create a visually impeccable
piece. Fringe which is made up of the central colors in the Moroccan rug hangs
from the vertical sides, framing the rug and completing the masterpiece.
Staying true to its Postmodern Bauhaus style and displaying a hard edge
painting style, graphic color block pattern, bold form and colors, this
Moroccan rug draws inspiration from Piet Mondrian, Mark Rothko, and Hans
