Reminiscent of Lesghi Stars, the crosses add a stately symmetry to the carpet composition. Outlined in a dark coffee color each interstice creates a stepped frame for Goz eye motifs symbolizing protection from the evil eye in Anatolian lore. Among the crosses, eight-pointed stars add depth and interest. Meanwhile a muted Kaikalak motif is placed in the center of each Lesghi Star flanked with a set of arrows pointing inward and a set of horizontal bars on either end. This hand-knotted Rug showcases a rustic edge of star motifs not unlike the stars and symmetry of a traditional American quilt.
