Moroccan Rug with Tribal Style 05’02 x 06’03 From Esmaili Rugs Collection.
This vintage Berber Moroccan rug incorporates golden yellow, red, orange and
black-brown to create a variegated yet harmonious design pattern that is woven
throughout the rug. The primary ornament of the center of the Moroccan rug is a
repetition of diamonds. Diamonds are known to represent the prediction of a
pregnancy in Ancient Berber culture and they are found frequently in the woven
masterpieces of Ancient Berber rug-makers. The Berber Moroccan rug is bordered
with a thin black line that ties together the inner decorating diamonds, as
light fringe in the primary background color trims the piece. This Moroccan rug
is not cut. It is designed this way. The six half diamonds open on the end
symbolize conception in Berber culture. Hand-knotted wool. Made in Morocco.
