76760 Antique Persian Malayer Rug, 04'09 x 05'03. 

This hand-knotted wool antique Persian Malayer rug features a large-scale red serrated-edged hexagonal medallion floating in the center of an abrashed blue field. The medallion contains a superimposed long crystal-shaped medallion surrounded by a latticework of palmettes, large blooms, lanceolate leaves, vinery, blossoms and rosettes. The field is comprised of a stylized all-over Herati pattern, which mimics some of the designs from the central medallion. The classic Herati motif consists of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. The wide main border also features a Herati design as well, this one sporting large samovar-shaped palmettes. Delicate carnation meander guard borders add a refined touch to the composition. The sumptuous color palette based around rich shades of cerulean and brick red with pink, yellow, and green accents give the overall design a sense of vivacity and spirit. This antique Persian Malayer rug would add style and panache to any space, while its unusual square dimensions make it a versatile and rare find.
