Vintage Turkish Oushak Gallery Rug, Wide Hallway Runner 05'01 x 10'06 From
Esmaili Rugs Collection. This hand-knotted wool antique-washed vintage Turkish Oushak rug
features five large hexagonal medallions spread across an abrashed field. Each
medallion contains four stylized palmettes and elongated checkered leaves
radiating outwards from a rosette center. The palmettes resemble alternating
ram���s horn and hands-on-hips motifs, denoting man and woman. Star flowers, a common
motif attributed to the Konya region, appear between the medallions. Additional
small blooms sprout from the border into the corner spandrels. The unique wide
border features serpentine dragon motifs in alternating colors. In Anatolian
culture, dragons are believed to be mythical creatures that guard treasure and
ward off evil. A unique color palette with unexpected shifts in color due to an
exaggerated abrash gives this Oushak rug an expressive and painterly
appearance. With its bold geometric interpretations of classic motifs, this
striking vintage Oushak rug would be a welcoming addition to any space.
Rendered in variegated shades and faded colors of terra cotta, rust, rose,
peach, faded brick red, verdigris, dark teal, cerulean, yellow, ecru, tan, sand,
beige, greige and beige with muted pastel accents of light yellow, pink,
