traditional style. Immersed in Anatolian history and earth-tone colors, this vintage Turkish Oushak rug combines simplicity with
sophistication. The abrashed cut-out field features a stepped central medallion with ambiguous Anatolian motifs. It is enclosed with an Elibelinde motif border. Though deceptively simple, this vintage Turkish rug is steeped in Anatolian history. Derived from the virility of the Ram's Horn motif, the Classic Elibelinde motif, also known as the “hands on hips” or goddess motif, is thought to represent motherhood and fertility while ram’s horns represent masculinity and power. The fertility bereket motifs that appear combine the symbols of both man and woman, often referred to as ram’s Horn and hands-on-hips motifs, into one design with a diamond in the center.
