The medallions contain superimposed stepped hexagons surrounded by small carnations and various geometric forms. Square Meander and running water guard borders flank the graphic main border, which features eight-pointed stars, also known as octagrams, in a variety of colors. Eight-pointed stars are often thought to represent happiness and spirituality. Additional eight-pointed stars, along with cruciform shapes, appear in the corner spandrels, recalling designs from the main border and center medallions.
