Description:-
Vintage Moroccan "Blessing" Rug in Pastels, 04'02" x 06'04" from Esmaili Rugs Collection. Moroccan carpets can transform a plain space into a lively interior. This delightful Moroccan rug showcases a delicate palette of pastels in narrow horizontal stripes. The lack of static designs in this vintage Moroccan gives it a free and unconstrained visual impact. Showcasing a series of crosses found inside the stripes represent a bird which is a positive motif carrying Baraka - a blessing from God. Baraka can be transferred to symbols and designs that have protective power to ward off the "evil eye." The "evil eye" is a stare or glance that can bring illness or misfortune to individuals. The Berber women incorporate design elements from their personal experience into the rugs designs. The symbols are usually references to events and aspects of their daily life such as beliefs, birth, fertility, nature, femininity, life and spirituality. Some believed that the rugs could even ward off evil spirits so naturally, they incorporated designs such as diamonds and lucky charms to ward off the evil spirits and bring luck, prosperity and protection.
