51691 Vintage Turkish
Oushak Rug, 04'00 x 06'06.
This hand-knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug features a
latch-hooked hexagonal center medallion surrounded by an all-over floral
pattern on an abrashed field. Palmettes and vines radiate outward from the
center medallion creating a network of stylized floral designs. Outlined mihrab
motifs ornament either side of the medallion, while additional eight-pointed
stars, which represent spirituality and happiness, are also included. A
larger-scale floral pattern adorns the corner spandrels, complementing the
central design, while a large geometric cup and leaf main border and running
water inner border provide contrast. The mix of elements combined with soft
earthy colors gives this Turkish Oushak rug a great deal of rustic charm.
- Rendered in variegated shades of terra cotta, faded soft red, brick red,
salmon, coral, gray, greige, ecru, almond, beige, olive, pistachio, sienna,
burnt umber, and coffee. - Abrash.
