With its bright red field and faded eggplant spandrels, this hand-knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak runner is a woven beauty of contrasting vibrant and earth tones. Ancient symbolism abounds in the surface ornament. Running lengthwise in the field, a string of abstract florals. Meanwhile the main border is composed of symbolic motifs Elibelinde, Ying-Yang and a variation of the Sacbagi symbolizing love, marriage and family. The main border is flanked with roundel flower guard borders. Emanating mystery and intrigue in a bright colorful package this vintage Oushak runner embodies the charm and complexity of Turkish weaving.
