repeat floral pattern spread across an abrashed coffee field. Offset rows of
flowers appear in alternating leaf colors, creating a subtle diagonal stripe
effect and giving dimension and visual interest to the simple pattern. Laleh
Abbasi guard borders and a variety of plain and striped listels flank an
attractive ram’s horn and dart main border. The interplay between the various
small-scale patterns in this antique Kurdish rug is particularly striking,
especially when paired with a dynamic use of color. Dark and light hues, as
