This hand-knotted wool vintage Persian Shiraz
tribal rug features a series of four latch-hooked diamond medallions along an
abrashed field. The high-contrast neutral color palette makes this Persian
Shiraz rug very versatile while still boasting a bold graphic design. Each
medallion contains a corresponding smaller hooked diamond medallion with an S
symbol in the center. Eight-pointed stars also featuring the S motif decorate
the field, while ram’s horn motifs connect each medallion. The main border
employs an unusual ram’s horn meander, while serrated secondary borders
complement the sharp angles throughout the Persian rug’s designs. The S or hook
motifs as well as diamonds both are used to protect against evil, while ram’s
horns represent fertility, masculinity and power. The layering and repetition
of traditional symbols along with its striking geometric composition make this
Persian tribal rug quite handsome and evocative. Rendered in variegated shades
of beige, almond, cream, ecru, tan, camel, sienna, coffee, brown, and
