Description:-
Vintage Berber Moroccan Rug, 03'06" x 05'00 from Esmaili Rugs Collection. Add a tribal touch to your home with this vintage Moroccan rug. This carpet was handmade with sheeps wool by the women of the Azilal province in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. With their plush pile and dense construction, these rugs were made for the primary function of warmth and protection from the cold temperatures. A field of neutral beige contrasts nicely with the colorful tribal motifs. From the Barakas and crosses to the diamond and geometric designs, this vintage Moroccan rug serves not only as warmth and decoration, but also to ward off the evil eye and to bestow fertility and blessings. In Berber culture, the color red symbolizes strength and protection, blue symbolizes wisdom, yellow represents eternity and green stands for peace. The color brown represents structure, stability and its also a color of simplicity and physical comfort while the color black is known to absorb negative energy. While the patterns may seem whimsical and random they are very significant to the rug weavers life. The Berber women incorporate design elements from their personal experience into the rugs designs. The symbols are usually references to events and aspects of their daily life such as beliefs, birth, fertility, nature, femininity, life and spirituality. Blending the graphic appeal and folk-art warmth of Moroccan tribal motifs with lively colors, this vintage Moroccan rugs makes a striking statement piece and fits wonderfully with modernist decor and monochromatic interiors.
