Description:-
52444 Vintage Turkish
Oushak Rug with American Craftsman Tribal Style 03'03 x 05'01. Imbued with
Anatolian symbolism, this hand-knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug with
American Craftsman Style charms with classic, tribal appeal, and would be at
home among natural wood furnishings and traditional interiors. An octagonal
medallion anchors a red hexagonal center field surrounded by abrashed verdigris
colored spandrels. The center star motif represents happiness meanwhile two
end-pieces feature colorful Kotchanak finials each set with a short iteration
of tree of life motifs. Rams head motifs further set the center field
representing fertility, heroism, power and masculinity. It is enclosed with a
wide border composed of Kotchanak motifs and rosettes in alternating colors.
Derived from the virility of the Ram's Horn motif, the Kotchanak is also a
fertility symbol. The Classic Elibelinde motif, also known as the “hands on
hips” or goddess motif, is thought to represent motherhood and fertility while
ram’s horns represent masculinity and power. The fertility bereket motifs that
appear combine the symbols of both man and woman, often referred to as ram’s
Horn and hands-on-hips motifs, into one design with a diamond in the centre
found in the outer guard band. Steeped in Anatolian history and culture, this
evocative vintage Oushak runner’s rich symbolism, well-harmonized colors, and
bold design combine to create a truly wonderful piece that would enliven nearly
any interior. Noble and enchanting this vintage Oushak rug is successful across
a variety of design applications. Perfect for a grand foyer, designer entryway, home office, private library, conservatory, wine cellar, executive suite, stair landing, galley kitchen, grand parlor, theater room, royal suite, billiards room, game room, bedroom, study, sitting room, sunroom or it would make a lovely accent next to a buffet in a dining room or behind the sofa table in the living room. Well-suited for a variety of interiors:
Craftsman, Tribal, Primitive, Baroque, Renaissance, Chippendale, Tudor,
Cottage, Rustic, Neoclassical, Traditional, American Colonial, English, and Old
World. Rendered in variegated shades of red, verdigris, navy blue, coffee,
