Oushak Rug, 03'03 x 04'09.
This hand-knotted wool
vintage Turkish Oushak rug features a stepped diamond center medallion floating
on an abrashed ruby red field, surrounded by a variety of smaller diamonds. The
diamond motifs are repeated in the corner spandrels and main border, while the
outer running water border mimics the angular motifs used throughout, giving
the composition a sense of order and overall harmony. Additional plain and
barber’s pole secondary borders provide an added sense of balance to the
design. With its bold design and tropical color palette based around red, gray,
orange, lemon and lime, this playful vintage Turkish Oushak rug would bring a
refreshing pop of color to any space.
