This hand-knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug features two columns of octagonal medallions surrounded by eight-pointed stars and rosettes floating upon an abrashed orange field. Each medallion contains a large Kaikalak motif, which consists of four opposing ram’s horns with a diamond in the center. The simple but effective border scheme is comprised of two barber’s pole striped guard borders flanking a geometric meander main border. The color scheme is warm and inviting; soft blues, golden ochers, and earthy neutrals pop against the cozy orange backdrop, resulting in a palette that is vibrant yet comfortable.
