This hand-knotted wool distressed antique-worn Afghani rug feautres a large-scale lozenge composed of four petaled flowers alternating with curved sickle leaves and surrouned byan eight-point stars. The inside of the lozenge medallion is filled with ancient tribal motifs. Latch-hooks and saw-tooth create a hexagonal field and form four corner spandrels which are adorned with a large rosette, three crosses, five T-shaped Ram's Horn motifs, and a chevron wavelength. Enhanced by its distressed composition and waves of abrash sweeping across the field, this antique Afghanistan rug beautifully displays worn-in charm with an intimate patina.
