Antique Kurd rug from Esmaili Rugs Collection: Kurdish rugs are as diverse as the cultural weavers who make them. The presence in the Iranian Kurdistan region and the northwestern area of Iran has led to some stylistic overlap. Kurdish weavers aren't part of a homogeneous group as their design styles range from traditional to whimsical. This is a very rare pair of identical Kurdish runners that are made of natural camel hair. The designs are varied and the colors are beautiful. Gentle earth tones of brown, tan, orange and blue are astounding. The vibrant repetitive latticework is surrounded by three prominent borders which emphasize the traditional tribal traits of this antique Kurdish rug. These runners create a warm feeling and the uneven, unpredictable aspect of handmade art. Sizes are only slightly different (2'11" x 16'5" and 3'1" x 15'10").
