50727 Vintage Red Turkish
Oushak Rug Runner, 02'08 x 09'11.

This hand-knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak runner features stepped hexagonal
pole medallions with anchor pendants spread across an abrashed vermilion field.
The medallions each contain large hair band motifs, which are thought to
represent the desire for marriage, as well as rosettes and diamonds, which are
seen to protect against evil. Additional rosettes and two fertility symbols
decorate either end of the field. The stepped corner spandrels and a series of
ziggurats reach towards the center, displaying floral vine motifs. Delicate
almond blossom secondary borders flank the graphic floret main border. The
limited color palette based around red, yellow, and beige with dark coffee
accents enhances the piece’s bold geometric designs with flair and vivacity.
This charming vintage Turkish Oushak runner would be an excellent addition to
any interior.
