palmette finials and floral elaboration bespeaking French cultural influence. A
lobed cut out field surrounds and brings one's attention in and out of the edge
like ripples in a pool of water. The decoration spills finally into elaborate
spandrels and a navy floral border, the finishing touch on a crowning
achievement of Persian weaving.
