75902 Vintage Persian Mahal Rug with English Country Cottage Style 10'03 x 11'04. This hand knotted wool vintage Persian Mahal rug features a hooked diamond-shaped center medallion floating in the center of an abrashed russet field. The medallion, field, and spandrels are all adorned with an all-over small scale Herati motif. The classic Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is among the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. A stylized samovar or turtle vine main border, flanked by delicate rosette and cross and carnation meander secondary borders, frames the composition, pulling together colors from throughout serving to unify the piece and create a sense of harmony. With its mostly earthy color palette combined with its timeless design, this traditional vintage Persian Mahal rug would be a rustic, yet stylish addition to any interior.
