Description:-
73998 Antique Persian Malayer Rug, 03'07 x 05'07.
This hand knotted wool antique Persian Malayer rug features an all-over Herati pattern spread across an abrashed navy blue field. The classic Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. In this antique Persian Malayer rug, the pattern is rendered in a large-scale highly stylized manner, where the hooked diamonds form a column down the center, creating a pleasurable symmetry. The hooked spandrels are left relatively plain, save for a lone rosette in each corner, which serves to add balance in contrast to the dense patterns of the rest of composition. Flanked by two floral vine guard bands, the main border features an abstract palmette motif, while the outermost border displays a miniature Herati-style rosette motif. With its traditional design and limited color palette based mostly on golden neutrals and shades of ink blue, this antique Persian Malayer rug would be a charming and versatile addition to any space.
- Rendered in variegated shades of ink blue, navy blue, baby blue, sand, camel, tan, ecru, taupe, coffee, beige, and champagne with accents of burnt orange, rust, and terra cotta.
- Abrash.
- Hand knotted wool.
- Made in Iran.
- Measures: 03'07 x 05'07.
