75839 Vintage Persian Mahal William Morris Inspired Rug with Arts & Crafts Style 06'04 x 10'04. This hand knotted wool vintage Persian Mahal rug features an all-over nature-inspired pattern composed of a floral garden design overlaid upon a dark background. Large acanthus leaves, stylized organic forms, blooming palmettes, tree boughs, lilies, birds, animals, and vines spread across the field in a tantalizing and vibrant composition. It is enclosed with a floral meander Herati border flanked with inner and outer carnation meander guard bands and subsidiary stripes. The overall composition is distinctly reminiscent of the Arts & Crafts movement carpet designs of late nineteenth and early twentieth century England.
