Description:-

53062 Antique Persian Malayer Rug Runner, 04'01 x 09'01.

This hand-knotted wool and camel hair antique Persian Malayer runner features five diamond-shaped medallions spread across an abrashed camel colored field. The classic Herati pattern adorns each medallion as well as the corner spandrels. The Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. Columns of small half-diamonds decorate the edges of the field, complementing the geometric shapes throughout the piece. A wonderful series of borders frames the composition: an eight-pointed star main border is accompanied perfectly by floral meander and boteh guard bands. Eight-pointed stars are seen to represent faith and spirituality, while the boteh motif is thought to symbolize life with its resemblance to a number of natural forms, including leaves, bushes, pinecones, sprouts and flames. The gorgeous color palette based around soft browns and oranges gives the piece a rather refined, yet charmingly rustic feel. In combination with its, bold, geometric style, this antique Persian Malayer rug would be a wonderful addition to nearly any interior.

Perfect for a hallway, stair landing, open hall or long entry, kitchen, corridor, private library, den, mudroom, study, home office, sitting room, bathroom, grand foyer and designer entryway, or it would make a great addition to a great room, wine cellar, executive suite, conservatory, state room, royal suite, living room, bedroom, hotel lobby, billiards room, or clubhouse. It would make a lovely accent next to a buffet in a dining room, behind the sofa table in the living room, or by a long vestibule in a hotel lobby. Well-suited for a wide range of interior styles: Traditional, Transitional, Eclectic, Modern, Rustic, Lodge, Cabin, Cottage, Bungalow, Manor House, Industrial, Victorian, Tudor, Jacobean, Spanish Revival, Mission, Mediterranean, Arts & Crafts, Craftsman, Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, English Country, French Provincial, Bohemian, Boho Chic, Primitive and Tribal.

  • Rendered in variegated shades of camel, tan, khaki, beige, olive, salmon, terra cotta, peach, rose, orange, tangerine, persimmon, brown, umber, coffee, ecru, cream, ivory, gold, yellow, navy blue, and ink blue.
  • Abrash.
  • Hand-knotted wool and camel hair.
  • Made in Iran.
