Inspired from the Ardabil carpet from the Safavid dynasty, the antique Tabriz rug features a circular 16-point centre medallion flanked by a ring of sixteen pointed ovals surrounded by an all-over floral pattern composed of blooming palmettes, serrated leaves, stylized flowers and arabesque vines. Chandelier lamps hang at each end of the medallion and complementary spandrels echo the medallion design. It is framed by a classic cartouche border and flanked with triple inner and outer guard bands.
