52395 Vintage Turkish
Oushak Rug, 04'00 x 06'02.
This hand-knotted wool Vintage
Turkish Oushak Rug features soft pastel colors and a plethora of richly
symbolic tribal motifs. Two joined ivory hexagonal amulets with blue and
chocolate accents anchor an abrash brown field. Each amulet features four
jumping antelopes, 16-pointed stars, two birds, diamonds, and multicolor squares.
In the field, poly-chromatic quatrefoil diamonds surround the amulets meanwhile
three connected florals create loose spandrels each set with a small tree of
life above a set of curled C's. Two decorative end pieces ornament either short
side, beyond which a primary border and two guard borders surround the
composition. The primary border features hexagonal motifs each set with a star
in an alternating color. The guard borders feature a row of trefoil florals
against a pale blue backdrop.
