With its Scandinavian Modern style, incredible detail and texture, this handwoven wool vintage Swedish rollakan rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The eye-catching geometric design and earthy colorway woven into this piece work together creating a truly unique look. An allover pattern made up of stepped orbs, lozenges, and oval shapes work in sequence cultivating a beautiful juxtaposition among the design. This rollakan rug is named Sommarflor and was designed by Judith Johansson in 1988. The ethereal backdrop recalls summer flowers of Sweden and the expert use of shading gives the piece a painterly quality reminiscent of watercolors and gouaches. The use of abrash is deliberate; intended to capture nature's capriciousness in the same way sunlight casts shadows.
