52169 Vintage Turkish Oushak Rug Runner, 05'06 x 18'02.
Warm earth-tones with pastel purple hues combined with floral elements of the Prairie School Movement collide in this hand knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak gallery rug. Running the length of the Oushak gallery rug are five large-scale sawtooth hexagonal medallions patterned with earring motifs. A variety of flowers and traditional Anatolian symbols, including burdocks, rosettes, and hair band motifs are spread throughout the composition. Earrings, a common wedding present in Anatolia, represent marriage. Sawtooth and Burdock symbols are both used to protect against evil. It is finished with a rectilinear meander border flanked with an inner double meander guard border.
