Warm and inviting with incredible detail and texture, this hand knotted vintage Turkish Oushak
runner is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The eye-catching tribal elements and earthy colorway woven into this piece work together creating a truly one-of-a-kind look. A series of hexagonal medallions with arrow-like forms run along the center of the abrashed brown colored field. Traditional Anatolian symbols and ambiguous tribal motifs are tucked
into nearly every part of this Oushak rug in a bold and compelling composition.
The medallions contain fertility symbols surrounding an interior diamond. The
arrow forms contain fountain-like sprays and hooked diamonds along the edges. A
fantastic fertility motif outer border and stepped diagonal stripe inner border
frame the composition. The fertility patterns that appear throughout combine the
symbols of both man and woman into one design, while diamond motifs and hooks
are thought to protect against evil. This bold, yet intriguing Oushak runner
would truly make a statement and enliven any space.
