73891 Vintage Turkish
Oushak Rug, 04'03 X 09'06.
This
hand-knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak runner features three connected
scalloped hexagonal medallions with floral pendants spread across an abrashed
brick red field. A variety of traditional Anatolian symbols are scattered
throughout the composition alongside graceful floral designs in an evocative
and attractive manner. Rosettes, tulips, and fetters, which are thought to
symbolize family union and devotion, decorate the centers of the medallions.
The corner spandrels display a variety of floral motifs as well as hair band
motifs, which are seen to represent the desire to get married. A sawtooth inner
border accompanies a hair band and quatrefoil floret main border. The sumptuous
abrashed brick red field and accents give a sense of exuberance to the
otherwise mostly soft grays and pastel tones, creating a playful dynamic that
highlights the array of designs. With its rich symbolism, cheerful color
palette, and graceful composition, this vintage Turkish Oushak runner would
enhance any space with charm and allure.

champagne, khaki, buff, wine, beige, onyx, and pale saffron, light yellow, with
