Cleverly composed and distinctively well-balanced, this hand knotted wool distressed antique Persian Malayer runner will take on a curated lived-in look that feels timeless while imparting a sense of warmth and welcomed informality. The antique washed field features an all-over Herati design. The Classic Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. The Herati motif is widely used in Iran and believed to represent the small fishes come up just beneath the surface of the water to swim in the full moons reflection. It is enclosed with a leafy meander border flanked with an inner and outer guard band. With its timeless design and understated elegance, this antique Malayer carpet runner would bring a sense of nostalgic charm to nearly any interior.
