This hand-knotted wool vintage Oushak rug embodies the cultivated grandeur of Anatolia’s celebrated weaving tradition, where monumental geometry and botanical ornament were composed with an instinctive sense of proportion. Its time-softened surface lends the carpet the atmosphere of a cherished treasure preserved through generations, allowing traces of its original design to emerge with remarkable depth. At the center rests an elaborate floral medallion superimposed upon a monumental lozenge, creating successive layers of ornament that draw the eye toward the heart of the carpet. Palmette pendants extend from either end, strengthening the vertical axis and giving the centerpiece a ceremonial presence. The lozenge carries longstanding Anatolian associations with continuity and generative life, while palmettes symbolize abundance and flourishing.
