The classic Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. It is enclosed with stylized foliate designs of repeating both motifs on the primary border flanked with an inner and outer crenelated fence guard border.
