With its timeless elegance and regal charm, this hand knotted wool antique Persian Hamadan rug features a sixteen point scalloped medallion anchored with an almond shaped pendant on either side. The midnight ink blue field is composed of blooming palmettes, curved sickle leaves, arabesque vines, floral sprigs, rosettes, and blossoms. Each corner spandrel is adorned with an elaborate botanical pattern. It is enclosed with a florals and foliage border flanked with an inner and outer floral guard band and subsidiary guard stripes. With elegantly curved and well-balanced architectural elements, this antique Persian rug possesses a history and patina that only an authentic antique could, and yet it is also capable of giving its best performance in the decades to come.
